The Pascal Phillips Story
I was born in the picturesque town of Biarritz, France, with my formative years spent in Sydney, Australia. Since childhood, my passion for drawing, painting, and architecture has been an integral part of who I am.
While my educational background initially had a business focus, my interest in architecture led me to pursue a Master's degree in Property Development at the University of Technology Sydney. For two decades, I dedicated myself to the field, specializing in residential housing and medium-density apartments. However, in 2016, I made a life-altering decision to relocate to the town of Jindabyne, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains. Here, surrounded by some of Australia's most breath taking scenery, I could at last cultivate my long held passion for the visual arts.
My artistic journey has been a fascinating exploration of oils and water colours. Impressionism, particularly in capturing the essence of landscapes, portraiture, figurative and still life, is of particular interest to me. To this end, I have embarked on extensive travels throughout Australia and Europe, immersing myself in the beauty of the land and allowing plein-air painting to transport me to the heart of nature. As I paint, I aim to bring to life the play of light and shadows, the vibrant energy, and the spirit of the Australian landscape.
As an artist, I draw inspiration from the great masters - Arthur Streeton, Hans Heysen, Albert Namatjira, J.M.W. Turner, Tom Roberts, Les Graham, Hugh Ramsay and Robert Hannaford. Not only have they influenced my artistic style, their works continue to fuel my creative fire.
I have also had the privilege of studying with contemporary artists who share my passion. I have attended workshops in oils led by John Wilson, Colley Whisson, Kasey Sealy, Warwick Fuller, and Lyn Diefenbach. Additionally, I have had the pleasure of exploring the world of water colours through workshops conducted by Chan Dissanayake and Julie Goldspink. I invite you to explore my art, and to appreciate each subject matter through my eyes. I am available to commission landscapes, portraits and still lives, as well as having a number of completed art works available for purchase.
